Computer-based Linguistics and Technologies

Description: The project gathers professors, graduate students, and graduate alumni of USP, including professor of UNESP/Bauru, UFPE, PUC/SP, and UNIP, aiming to promote exchange of experiences among researchers of the exact and humanities area in general, especially between exact sciences and the science of language. The project is dedicated to the analysis of uses and applications of computer-based technology in language studies through the generation of databases (electronic corpora) of different purposes (teaching, research, diagnosis, and of analysis of the bases generated by computer tools and statistical-descriptive methods).

CorPor system: voice and orthographic-phonetic text of the Portuguese Spoken in the state of São Paulo

Description: Studying language facts in use and using the computer in storage, treatment, and analysis of authentic data from oral language, the CorPor system includes Bases (or databases) of orthographic-phonetic information, of corpora and Lexicon of the Portuguese spoken in the state of São Paulo (São Paulo, Campinas, and Itu) in relational database systems. The main components of the systems are: (a) databases of orthographic-phonetic information of the Portuguese spoken in the state of São Paulo; (b) Electronic Corpora of the Portuguese spoken in the state of São Paulo (textual databases) with simultaneous access to voice and text; (c) Orthographic-phonetic frequency lexicon of the Portuguese spoken in the state of São Paulo; (d) Lexicon of intervocabulary juncture of the Portuguese spoken in the state of São Paulo.
